Welcome to the face behind Oileán Adventures!
I’m Emma. Originally from Meath, I moved temporarily to Cahersiveen in the summer of 2022. Very quickly into my stay I completely fell in love with South Kerry and have remained here since.
I am an outdoor nut, my adventures of choice being hiking, surfing, dipping in the ocean, and camping and as soon as I landed here I wanted to see and do it all. I went off the beaten track, explored, joined local walking groups, sports groups and said yes to all the outdoor adventures.
Living in South Kerry has shown me that there is a different and more intuitive way to live and so Oileán Adventures was born!
When you come on a tour with me you will be guaranteed to see parts of South Kerry which surround the Ring of Kerry, largely missed by passing tourists. Our outdoor adventures together will consist of hiking the rugged landscape, knowledge sharing about flora and fauna, geology, folklore and history, enjoying some local grub in some of our top picks, and much, much more!
A conscious effort to maintain eco-friendly tours. As you will see, the ecosystems that exist in South Kerry are precious and it is our responsibility to tread carefully as we travel through.

I was lucky to be involved in a walking tour of Cahersiveen on Saturday morning despite the weather being damp it didn't stop Emma's enthusiasm for the history and mythology of the area. She is very knowledgeable, pleasant and engaging lady. I really enjoyed the experience and her pace suited our group. I would highly recommend booking a tour with her.

We had a brilliant 5 days in Caherciveen Co: Kerry and Emma McGrath from Oilean adventures put together a wonderful itinerary for us. She organised a swim and sauna at Cuas Crom beach which was so refreshing , a boat trip out to the spectacular Skellig islands , a day trip to the magical Derrynane house and information on wonderful seafood places to eat , Murts bar for the best pint of Guinness in town and information about ferry crossings times to Valentia island and back. Best of all she made us feel so very welcome with a wonderful pack of local jam, marmalade , bread, butter and chocolate.

Emma was an absolute find! She arrived on time as arranged,brought me on a looped walk on Valentia island, so I saw magnificent views from a height that I would otherwise have missed, she was a very knowledgeable guide,pointing out different places of interest and sharing stories. Emma lead me a great adventure from the Glen to the cafe Cois Tra coffee in Balinskelligs over Bolus Head through Cill Rialaig. This is was a great education as well! Emma is very knowledgeable of local folklore and the natural world including geology. A wonderful day of exploration and discussion.
