Discover Your Next Outdoor Adventure

Meet Your Guide

Welcome to the face behind Oileán Adventures!

I’m Emma. Originally from the East Coast in Meath, I moved to Cahersiveen in the summer of 2022 for what was a temporary change of scene at the time. Very quickly into my stay I completely fell in love with South Kerry.

I am an outdoor nut, my main adventures of choice being hiking, surfing, dipping in the ocean, and camping and as soon as I landed here I wanted to see and do it all.  I went off the beaten track, explored, joined local walking groups, sports groups and said yes to all the outdoor adventures.

With my work background having been in corporate events management, living in South Kerry has shown me that there is a different way to live and so Oileán Adventures was born!

When you come on a tour with me you will be guaranteed to see parts of South Kerry that are largely missed by passing tourists. Our adventures together will consist of hiking the lush landscape, knowledge sharing about flora and fauna, geology, folklore and history, enjoying some local grub in some of our top picks, and much, much more!

A conscious effort to appreciate and care for the local environment is a top priority on my adventures. As you will see, the ecosystems that exist in South Kerry are precious and it is our responsibility to look after them as we travel through.

What Customers Have to Say

We had such a great time with Emma on a recent tour! She created such a friendly atmosphere and had a lovely itinerary for us including hiking, lunch, boat tour and sauna. She is clearly very knowledgeable about the area, and we saw some beautiful spots while on the tour, a fabulous way to see a bit more of South Kerry. I would highly recommend going on a tour, such an enjoyable day and a great way to go to some picturesque spots away from the tourist mainstream areas and enjoy a day in nature!

We had a wonderful and exciting day with Oileán Adventures during our holiday in South Kerry. Away from the tourist mainstream, Emma guided us in a small group through the beautiful countryside around Cahersiveen. For me (61, and from the German "Lowlands") the hill hike to Beentee was quite challenging, but I was very proud when we reached the top and had fantastic views into the distance. We particularly liked the fact that Emma not only knew her way around geographically and could explain to us exactly what we were looking at, but also showed us lots of plants along the way. Little things that we would never have discovered on our own. Pleasantly exhausted, we had a cosy lunch in Cahersiveen with delicious pub food that left nothing to be desired, even for me as a vegetarian. Unfortunately, the planned boat tour had to be cancelled due to engine problems. However, this didn't dampen our spirits, as we were able to enjoy the Skellig sauna all the longer at the end. Chatting and laughing in the sauna was a welcome surprise for us Germans and nothing, really nothing, could beat cooling off in the Atlantic afterwards. We enjoyed this day with Emma to the full, as she is very enthusiastic about nature and lovely as a person. We really hope that we will have the opportunity to experience a little adventure with her again.

So good I booked again. This is the way to experience the hidden gems and hit up all the good local spots. I did both the Valentia bike and hike tour and the Cahersiveen hike, boat and sauna tour. Emma was such a lovely guide, who clearly loves Cahersiveen and has put so much love and attention into curating these tours. It was a great opportunity to learn about the local area, explore walks i wouldn’t have found on my own, see the town from the water and meet some lovely people. Another big hightlight was the lunch at the Watchhouse on Valentia island- they event bought us out some freshly baked cookies for desert. Thanks so much for having us Emma and for sharing your stories and showing us the magic of South Kerry. Ill be back next year.
